Toluwani works in the broad field of Human Resource Development (HRD) to support organisations and communities to build more empowering, inclusive and engaging workplaces through a strategic approach to leadership development, learning, and gender/ethnic inclusion. Her vision is to see people thrive in their businesses and workplaces as they live and lead authentically, consciously and effectively. For over a decade, she has worked with several clients in Ireland and Africa to encourage, develop and implement high performance competencies and strategies through a emphasis on personal responsibility for transformation, big picture thinking in team effectiveness and harnessing the advantages and potentials in gender and ethnic diversity & inclusion.
Toluwani’s philosophy is that long-lasting competitive advantage can only be gained and maintained through a people. Thus, when individuals and teams are supported and empowered to develop and maximise their leadership acuity and competencies, the organisation increases its competitive advantage.
She is founder & Executive Officer at HerGenuityAfrika, an organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting entrepreneurship and business leadership among women of African descent. She is also the convener of Ireland’s 1st Business and Entrepreneurship network dedicated to African women – www.hergenuityafrika.org Currently, she also serves as Head of School & Strategy at Roegate College – an Edtech with a focus on upskilling/reskilling for leadership and enterprise development/entrepreneurship – www.roegatecollege.com. – Roegate College is Africa’s Premier Online College for Women.
Her commitment to leadership/leadership development was recognised when she was appointed Country Lead/Vice President, African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO), Ireland. She was also named one of 145 Inspiring Women Leaders 2020 by DiverseIn. A prolific writer, she is author of “Folktales from an African Childhood”, which she wrote to showcase and celebrate the diverse, beautiful and rich culture of Africa, especially amongst African children in the diaspora.
The audio version of some chapters of her book has been listened to in over 20 countries. She is ghostwriter/editor of four other books. She has also written for the defunct Kilkenny Voice Newspapers and currently writes regularly for the Kilkenny Observer.
Her commitment to community development is evident in her volunteering work as newsreader and radio host on Community Radio Kilkenny City 88.7FM (among others), having previously worked in the media in Nigeria. Among other professional qualifications, Toluwani holds a Bachelors in Business Studies (specialisation in Human Resource Management)- University College Dublin, a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with Distinction from University of Wales Trinity Saint David and a UCD Postgraduate Certificate in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise. She is also a certified Life and Executive Coach.
Toluwani is also currently a Postgraduate Researcher (PGR) at Coventry University, UK, with research interests in Migrant Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Leadership and Entrepreneurship Education. Her research paper, titled “Advancing the Socioeconomic Development and Integration of Migrant Women Through Entrepreneurship Education: The Case of Ireland” was published in July 2020 in Multidisciplinary Approach to Entrepreneurship Education for Migrants edited by Selma Mosquera and Patricia Jardim da Palma of Lisbon University, Portugal. https://www.igi-global.com/book/multidisciplinary-approach-entrepreneurship-education-migrants/239381 She is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and Member, Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM).
